Knee osteoarthritis: recommended therapy
Scientists from the University of Melbourne do not support the use of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection for the management of knee osteoarthritis after carrying out a research on its efficacy.
PRP is gotten from a patient’s own blood and injected into the knee in order to enhance tissue healing and minimise inflammation. This therapy is widely used and expensive.
However, the proven measures for the management of knee osteoarthritis are maintenance of an appropriate body weight and strength training.
